Obituary

William "Will" Duncan Winterhalter, 57, of Bellefontaine passed away Saturday, November 27th, 2021 at Mary Rutan Hospital.

Born December 27th 1963 in Frankfort, MI to William "Bill" Edward Winterhalter and Elizabeth "Anne"

(Hardaway) Winterhalter. Will was raised in Canal Lewisville, OH.

A 1982 graduate of River View High School, Will was a strong athlete, active in football, track, and wrestling, and showed promise as a strong swimmer, later becoming a lifeguard. In his younger years, he played the trombone, a talent he shared with all three of his children. Will also attended Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, PA, The University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College in Rio Grande, OH, and The Ohio State University. Will was active in the Future Business Leaders of America, which undoubtedly prepared him to start a more than 30 year managerial and training career with Wendy's. During his time with the company, Will made many long-lasting friendships with coworkers and supervisors, who would then see his children grow up and start their first part-time jobs at their local Wendy's. Although a brief attendee of The Ohio State University, Will stayed true to his roots and remained a loyal University of Michigan Wolverines fan. However, he was always a great sport around his family of Buckeye fans and celebrated Thanksgiving on the day of the Ohio State - Michigan game. Fondly remembered for his playful nature and unique and hearty laugh, Will enjoyed including his family in his interests. A lover of all things Star Trek, music, and computers, he often shared with his siblings, children, and nephews, enriching their lives at the same time. Will can be found in memories of concert-going days with his siblings, miraculously fixing broken computers like new, long road trips with his children, and a broad taste in music spanning decades. While his life took him many places, Will most enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, and was known for his generosity, kindness, and never-ending love. Though gone, his memory will forever live on.

Will is survived by his children, Sarah Elizabeth (Michael) Hilgefort of Bellefontaine, Wesley Duncan (JJ Trussell) Winterhalter of Park City, UT, and Emily Ashton (Daniel) Drazer of Urbana; his grandchildren, Hudson, Lexi, and Oakleigh Hilgefort of Bellefontaine; his siblings Kenneth Winterhalter and Holly (Chuck Mcloughlin) Baker of Zanesville; his nephews Frazier (Kelly Krieger) Baker of Clayton, and Zachary Baker of Zanesville; and countless other friends and family members whom he had loved in his life. Will is preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" Edward Winterhalter and Elizabeth "Anne" (Hardaway) Winterhalter.
