William Forest Runkle, 83 of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday January 13, 2018 at Logan Acres.

He was born November 6, 1934 in Lena, Ohio the son of John and Mary M. (Maggert) Runkle. William was preceded in death by his wife Wanita J. of 44 years in November of 2017.

William retired as an engineer from Conrail, Penn Central and New York Central Railroads with 44 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ and Christian Union. William enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as, his Boston Terrier Dogs, and visiting multiple Waffle House Restaurants.

Survivors include his children and step children Mike (Karen) Runkle, Deb (Ed) Warnecke, Shari (Randy) Green, Tim (Cheryl) Runkle, Joe (Linda) Baldwin, Sheila (Rick) Strong; brothers John L. (Sherrill) Runkle, Steve L. (Tam) Runkle, 23 grandchildren 42 great grandchildren, 3great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Pansy (Samuel) Skaggs, Glenda (David) Smith and Frances Gilbert; brother-in-law Arthur (Elyse) Gilbert Jr; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister Jean L. Runkle.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday January 18, 2018 at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home and Crematory 5591 US Rt 68 S. West Liberty, Ohio 43357. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-7 PM and 1 hour prior to service on Thursday.
