Vicki W Lingrell

Vicki Lingrell, 77, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her dearly Friday, March 20, 2026. Born to William Fremont and Annabelle Wilson of West Liberty, Vicki spent her life rooted in the community that shaped her and that she, in turn, so faithfully served.

Vicki was married to Larry Lingrell for 23 years. Though they experienced 28 years of separation after his death, their bond remained one of deep friendship and enduring love. Those who knew them best understood that they were always, at heart, best friends and soul mates. Now, they are reunited once again.

A devoted daughter, sister (Judy Wilson Howell, Sue Wilson Kirkpatrick), Mom (Ronda Lingrell, Scot Lingrell, and Mitch Lingrell), Gigi, Aunt (Scott Howell and Diane Howell Allen), friend, teacher, and servant leader, Vicki was known for her generous heart and steady presence. She was the kind of friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether it was preparing a warm meal, offering a ride, sharing a craft she had lovingly made, or simply providing a listening ear, Vicki was quick to support those around her. Her kindness was not occasional; it was her way of life.

As a young girl, Vicki enjoyed all the pleasures of farm life in West Liberty, Ohio where she and her sisters raised livestock, participated in 4H, and relished the sense of community and small-town charm. She remained deeply committed to maintaining childhood relationships with extended family throughout her life including grandmother, aunts, and cousins. After graduating from Ohio State University Vicki returned home and dedicated 33 years to teaching in the West Liberty-Salem School District, where she shaped the lives of countless students. She was more than an educator; she was a mentor and encourager who believed in the potential of every child who walked into her classroom. Her patience, creativity, and commitment to her students left a lasting legacy in the district and the broader community.

Her faith was central to her life. Vicki was an active and devoted member of the West Liberty United Church of Christ, where she faithfully served in Missionary Aid and various church groups. Through her church work, she extended her compassion beyond her immediate circle, always looking for ways to serve others both near and far. Her most notable contribution to church was her vocal music talent. Many in the congregation hold fond memories of Vicki’s performances.

Vicki also knew how to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. She loved “wasting time” soaking in the sun on Indian Lake, relaxing on her boat with dear friends, especially her beloved “WD40 girls.” Those afternoons were filled with laughter, stories, sunshine, and the kind of friendship that only deepens with time. They were moments she treasured, surrounded by people who cherished her just as much.

Vicki enjoyed flowers, gardening, and tinkering outside. She enjoyed dogs, especially German Shepards who were occasionally a little naughty. Also, she enjoyed connecting with the ladies of Monday Afternoon Club for fun and friendship. Vicki will be remembered for her bold spirit, her generous nature, and the countless acts of kindness that defined her life. She leaves behind a community made better by her presence and many friends who will carry forward the example she set to love deeply, serve willingly, and give generously.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Vicki’s life at Jennings, Farley & Seeley Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 1:00pm, at West Liberty Church of Christ. In honor of Vicki’s love of gathering in friendship and her talent for planning a great party, attendees are warmly invited to wear Derby or Easter hats to the service, a fitting tribute to the joy and connection she brought to so many.

Her life was a testament to faith, friendship, and service, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
