Roberta C "Bobbie" Gratz

Roberta “Bobbie” Charlene Gratz passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Over the past two and a half years, she faced stage four lung cancer that spread to her brain and bones. Bobbie fought with remarkable bravery, perseverance, and grace every second of the way. She was born on April 13, 1947, to Charles and Ester Beverley. She was lovingly raised by her adoptive parents, Betty and Elmer Stout, in New Knoxville, Ohio.

Bobbie is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Ron Gratz, whose faithful care and constant presence was a source of strength throughout her fight; her son, Eric (Kelly) Gratz; and her daughter, Amy (Mike) Brobst. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Kyle (Emily) Gratz, Ryan Gratz, Nicholas Gratz, Emily Brobst, Abigail Brobst, and Danielle Brobst.

She was preceded in death by her beloved half-sister, Joanne Hungerford. The two shared a close bond throughout their lives. Her love extended far beyond her immediate family, embracing her family by marriage, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who became family.

Later in life, Bobbie was blessed with the unexpected joy of discovering a large extended biological family, the Beverley family. The relationships she formed with her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews became a treasured part of her life. She cherished the opportunity to know them, hear their stories, and embrace the family connections she had long wondered about. 

Bobbie had a love for Welsh Springer Spaniels, and while at home, she was rarely without a large pack at her heels. They were never simply pets, they were beloved members of her family. She found great joy in sharing her knowledge of the breed, celebrating their accomplishments, and welcoming each new puppy into the world. Alongside her passion for dog breeding, Bobbie was active in local historical societies and gardening clubs. She was a talented gardener, musician, decorator, and antique collector with an eye for beauty. Bobbie never met a stranger. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and quickly turning acquaintances into friends. Whether welcoming people into her home or simply sharing a conversation, she had a remarkable way of making everyone feel like they belonged.

She will be remembered for the countless memories she created and the love she generously shared—especially with her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored. Her family will forever hold close to their hearts the love, laughter, and memories she leaves behind.

A celebration of her life will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
