Phyllis Ann (Zook) Coey of West Liberty passed away Friday, December 21, 2018, at Greenhills Community.

Phyllis was born on March 15, 1927, in West Liberty to the late Robert J. and Martha V. (Swisher) Zook.

On September 21, 1946, she married George Emmett Coey in Columbus, Ohio. She was a graduate of West Liberty High School (Note: this was long before the consolidation with Salem.)  She was a life-long homemaker devoted to her family. She was a Christian activist who believed that Christian values are essential to the survival of America. She was also active in promoting the welfare of veterans and the right to life of unborn children. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George E. Coey; and her son, John Alan Coey.

She is survived by her son, G. Edward Coey; daughter-in-law, Christena Coey; granddaughter, Holly Ann Coey; grandson, John Alan Coey, and his fiancee, Alejandra Perdomo; and several cousins in Ohio and Indiana. Special thanks are due to her cousin, Barbara Swigart, and her husband, Keith Swigart, for their loving services during Phyllis's last illness.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 28, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will take place in Emanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hide-A-Way Hills, Ohio.
