Michael Angle

Michael James Angle, 74, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, at The Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus, surrounded by the love of his family, after complications arising from planned heart surgery proved insurmountable.

Michael was born on January 5, 1952, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late Roy Lee and Iris (Mouser) Angle. On June 9, 1973, in Bellefontaine, he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Kerr, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Michael’s family moved to Huntsville when he was three months old, then to Bellefontaine when he was three years old, and finally to the family farm when he was twelve. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1970 before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1974.

Michael enjoyed a distinguished engineering career spanning more than four decades. He began as a Project Engineer with Avco New Idea in Coldwater before joining Rockwell International's Power Tool Division in Bellefontaine, where he served as Manager of Product Engineering and Quality Assurance. In 1983, he earned his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Ohio. He later held leadership positions with Miami Industries–Copperweld in Piqua before finishing his career as Manager of Technical Services at Jackson Tube Service, where he devoted more than 21 years before retiring in March 2017.

Michael faithfully served as Chairman of the Church Trustees for more than three years, dedicating countless hours to improving and maintaining the church he loved. Michael will be dearly missed, fondly remembered and forever cherished in our hearts. At the heart of Michael’s life was his beloved wife, Nancy. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and love. Nothing brought Michael greater joy than spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Michael found great joy at the family’s remote waterfront cabin, where he restored the property, planted flowers, cleared land with his tractor and chainsaw, and enjoyed the abundant wildlife. He loved watching Ohio State football games and enthusiastically supported his grandchildren at their soccer and baseball games. He also enjoyed classic car shows, farm auctions, yard work, and was especially proud of his Farmall Super MTA tractor and his classic Chevrolet pickup truck.

Michael will be dearly missed and forever cherished by all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Angle; sons Bart (Jenny) Angle and Brad (Julie) Angle; grandchildren Taylor Angle, Regan Angle, Brayden Angle, and Kylee (Logan) Welhener; great-grandchildren River Whitt and Reed Whitt, and another great-grandchild expected soon; siblings Lynn (Gary) McLaughlin and David (Mickie) Angle; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Iris Angle; his beloved son, Jonathan Brian Angle; his sister, Barbara Neer; and his nephew, Michael Andrew Barger. The family invites those attending the services to be comfortable and wear casual attire. Ohio State University or Farmall International Tractor apparel would also be welcome, although certainly not required. Pallbearers will be Bart Angle, Brad Angle, Taylor Angle, Regan Angle, Brayden Angle, Kylee Welhener, Patrick Angle, and Mark Barger. Marianne Antram will honor Michael’s memory by performing a selection of his favorite classical works on the piano.
