Mary Alexander, 88 of Bellefontaine passed away Monday, December 30, 2024.
Mary was born October 12, 1936 in West Liberty, OH to the late Johnson C. and Helen M. (Coleman) Smith. On September 4, 1955 in West Liberty, OH she married the love of her life Frankie B. Alexander. They shared 55 years of marriage before he passed away in 2010.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie R. (Tracey) Smith; grandchildren, Alexandra R. (Scott) Woodruff and Treanne M. (Arie Pequignot) Smith; great grandchildren, Lillian R. Woodruff, Harley Q. Woodruff, Calvin E. Woodruff and Samuel C. Woodruff; siblings, Nora "Eileen" (Donald) Kauffman; sister-in-law, Carolyn Smith and Ruth Stayrook; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Sandy Alexander; several nieces and nephews; great grand dog, Milo J. Smith.
She is preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Mary Beth Alexander; sibling, George E. Smith, Kathleen E. Wren, James J. Smith, Carolyn M. Heminger and John C. Smith.
Mary was never still too long between traveling, horse races and sporting events and caring for family, she always seemed to be on the move. Mary was a true jack of all trades working as a waitress, factory worker, becoming a cosmetologist in her thirties, all while raising children, and then retiring as the local shoe repair owner. She enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially her Cincinnati Reds and NASCAR Racing. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Service will take place Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Zanesfield Cemetery following the service.
