Mary Elizabeth Hinkle went to the Lord and her family at 6:45 PM January 18, 2018 at Logan Acres Care Center, where she resided in the Alzheimer's community. She is survived by her granddaughter Lisa Lee Brandel, her nieces Tamara (Steve) Runkle, Cheryl (Jeff) Foulk, Delaura (Terry) Browning, Nancy (Loni) Key, and her nephew Danny (Vicki) Fridley. She was preceded in death by her husband Ortha Lee Hinkle, her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lee and Robert E. Garwood; son Lewis (Bill) Hinkle; brother Lewis Fridley; and sister La Jeune Perea.
Mary had a very long and full life. During World War II she worked in a munitions factory in Dayton, Ohio following that employment she moved to Topeka, Kansas to marry Ortha. When the war was over they returned to Ohio to raise their small family. She worked for Westinghouse, following that; from 1957-1981 she was a supervisor at D.A.B. She loved cooking, gardening, reading romance novels, and loving her beloved puppies.
She will be remembered by all who knew her, for her sassiness, her stubborn can/do will do attitude, and nicknaming her caregivers. Most importantly, she will be remembered for the fierce way she loved everyone who was in her life. Alzheimer's disease stole her memories, but could not steal her heart or spirit.
Her granddaughter asks that in lieu of flowers please make a charitable donation to the charity of your choice. Father Shawn Landenwitch will officiate a Funeral Service 3:30 pm Tuesday January 23, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory 5591 Rt 68 South West Liberty. Visitation will be from 1:30 until time of service.
