Leon Edward "Ed" Tapp, 84, of Bellefontaine passed away May 29, 2020 in his home with his
wife of 63 years and daughter present. Ed was born on May 27, 1936 to the late Francis

Ed was a 1955 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and went on to be a machinist. He spent
the majority of his career as a realtor for Ed Tapp and Company and finished his career with

estate, and racing. Ed could always be found either at the race track on the weekends or in his
garage preparing for the next race. Ed has won numerous awards in his lifetime of racing with
the most notable being the winner of the 1976 Spring Nationals in New Jersey driving his rail
dragster. The latter half of his racing career was spent owning and building modifieds that he
most recently raced at Shadybowl Speedway where he won the 2019 Ed Tapp Classic, the
2018 Championship, and he received the 2018 Mechanic of the year award.

Private graveside services will be held in the Huntsville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
