John R. Turner, 62, of Bellefontaine passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Green Hills Community in West Liberty, OH.
John was born November 27, 1956 in Bellefontaine, OH to the late Kenneth Erle and Twyla Jane (Price) Turner. John married the love of his life, Rebecca Young, on September 22, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine.
John was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School, class of 1975. After High School he served in the United States Navy. After his time in the service, he attended Quincy University in Quincy, IL. John was a member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine, a former Deacon, Elder, and Chancel Choir Member. He was an alumnus of the Citizens Police Academy, 5 th Class, Bellefontaine Police Department. He was a truck driver for many years. John was a classic car enthusiast. He enjoyed music and participating in a gospel quartet with his cousins. He loved traveling, gardening and landscaping. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Young Turner; daughters, Aimee M. Turner of Quincy, IL, Cassandra R. Turner of Bellefontaine, OH and Ash M. Dodds-Turner of Tucson, AZ; step daughters, Emily (Allen) Thornburg of West Liberty, OH and Laura (Allen) Dillard of Hilliard, OH; grandchildren, Myla and Owen Thornburg and Bryden Jo Dillard; siblings, Barbara Wade, Jennifer Nicol, Michelle Fischbach, Janet Turner, Angela Matthews; step mother, Lucy Turner of London, OH; aunt, Janet Powell of Findlay, OH; uncle Robert Price of Clyde, OH; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; close friends, Tim Peck, Jim Wireman, Terry Prosser and Stacy Kinchen.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Fletcher Turner and son, Brandon Michael Turner.
A Memorial Service will take place at the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. officiated by Rev. Kevin Greenwald. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Bellefontaine.
