John A. "Jack" Elliott 88 of Bellefontaine passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Green Hills Community.

John was born April 26, 1930 in Kenton to the late Ommert and Treva (Resch) Elliott. On June 26, 1988 at the Pickrelltown Church he married Erma L. (Bushong) Smith

John was member of Goshen Friends Church for many years. He served in the US Armed Forces in the Army Special Forces during the Korean War from 1951-1957. He was a 4-H Advisor for a number of years. He worked at Montgomery Ward in Bellefontaine and retired from International Harvester in Springfield, OH. John was a cancer survivor since 1983. He enjoyed working in his gardens, landscaping, fishing, reading and flowers. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, raising dogs and the great outdoors. John will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Angi (Clark) Sheeley, Dale (Tracy) Smith, Marty (Jenn) Smith, Kim Elliott, Charnell Elliott and Alan Elliott; grandchildren, Brooke (Calvin) Stannard, Kindra (Brandon) Murphy, Traiye (Danielle) Smith,  Tia (Carlos) Campbell, Emily (Trevor) Ward, Matt Smith, Luke Smith, Trevor Elliott, Taylor Elliott, Cassondra Coil (Logan Keizer) Chance Coil (Jessica Baughman) and Heath Elliott; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Erma L. Elliott; his parents; sisters, Carol Kenipe and Jean Smith.

A Memorial Service will take place Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
