John C. Fairchild, 73 of West Liberty, passed away Friday July 16, 2021 at Springfield Regional Medical Center, survived by his wife Peggy of 46 years.  He was born April 22, 1948 to the late Charles & Mary (Gaver) Fairchild. John was the founder and owner of Fairchild Construction for 40 years. John built and remodeled numerous homes and projects throughout Champaign County and the surrounding area for the past several decades.  John loved playing and coaching softball and fastpitch. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play the various sports they were involved in over the years.  John was also an avid Ohio State University football fan. He is survived by his children; daughters Molly (Marc) Smith, Heather Clawson and Holli (Adrian) Arnlund; sons J.D. Fairchild and Brian (Amy) Fairchild; brother Steve Fairchild; sister-in-laws Diane Fairchild, Marlies (Rob) Butler; brother-in-laws John Clark, David (Paula) Clapp; grandchildren include Makenna and Marisa Smith, Calen Fairchild and Tate Derr, and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters Patty Long and Linda Clark, brother David Fairchild.  Pastor Bill Walker will officiate a Funeral Service 11:00 am Wednesday July 21, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home 5591 US Rt 68 S. West Liberty 43357. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday July 20, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.  Masonic Rite service will be 3:45 PM Tuesday prior to visitation.
