Obituary

James Robert Hostetler 78, of West Liberty, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Green Hills Care Center.  He was born May 3, 1943 in Bellefontaine the son of Robert and Emma Lou (Plank) Hostetler.  Jim worked approximately 40 years in general construction, building and remodeling houses throughout Logan County as well as several surrounding counties. He worked with Bud & Bill Hostetler, Kip Carter and Dale Ward before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren all of which brought him great joy.  Jim played fast pitch softball and later coached pony league baseball. He was a member of the South Union Mennonite Church where he served as a Trustee, and was also a member of the West Liberty Police Auxiliary.  Survivors include his wife Jeannette K. (Eby) Hostetler of 56 years; sons Greg (Joanna) Hostetler and Mark Hostetler; grandchildren Lindsay Hostetler (fiancé Dan Pozniak) and Hayden Hostetler.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Donald S & Carol (Behnke) Hostetler. Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Saturday October 2, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty with Pastor Matthew Williams officiating.  In Lieu of flowers contributions may be directed to the West Liberty Fire Department.
