Helen "Marie" Downing 78 of Bellefontaine passed away peacefully at Logan Acres Community Center on Friday, January 29, 2021, Marie was born in Bellefontaine Ohio on June 8, 1942, to Lawrence Anderson and Etheline (Delvin) Winters

On October 25, 1957, Marie married the true love of her life, Richard D Downing in Anderson Indiana. Richard preceded Marie in death in 2016.

Marie is survived by two sons Timothy (Kathy) Downing and Richard (Bobby) Downing; daughter-in-law, Joy Downing. Preceding Marie in death was son KC Downing.  Marie was also the proud grandmother of five grandchildren Joshua (Tonya) Downing, Chad (Angela) Downing, Jane (Nathan) Henry, Jessica Downing, and Beth Downing. Also, her pride and joy were five great-grandchildren Aden, Regan, Aniston, Jena, and Harper. She also held a special place in her heart for special cousins Karen "Penny " Haas and Frederick Rambo Jr, her special dog Maddy-Jo, and life friends too numerous to mention.  Although Marie was an only child, Richard's large family welcomed her and continued to do so until her passing.

Marie worked at Mary Rutan Hospital for almost 40 years, first as a nurse's aide, then after completing college for respiratory therapy in 1982, she was employed several more years as a respiratory therapist.  One of her most significant accomplishments in life, she retired from Mary Rutan.  In addition to her work at MRH, she also volunteered with the hospital guild for many years.  With the impact that cancer had on Marie's life, she volunteered almost from the beginning with the Logan County Relay for Life.

She was also a member of the First Church of God Bellefontaine Ohio where she truly loved her Lord and Savior as well as her time spent with many church family members.

The family will be conducting private services at a later date.
