Hal P. Waters, 94 passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Story Point Senior Living in Troy, OH

Hal was born July 2, 1925 in Cleveland to the late Harold and Grace (Fletcher) Waters. On January 24, 1959 in Washington D.C. he married Martha F. Burke, who precedes him in death. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Staff Sergeant for the United States Army in the Medical Corp.

He is survived by his daughters, Ann (Lou) Tricules of Red Bank, NJ and Jane (Stephen) Earick of DeGraff, OH; grandchildren, Debra (Dustin Bray) Earick of Bellefontaine, OH and Brooklyn (Elin) Earick of Huntington Beach, CA; two great-granddaughters Nora and Luna.

Hal was a man of many interests who never met a stranger.  His love of knowledge extended to learning about everyone he met.  He graduated with honors from Catholic University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and graduate work in Physics.  He began his career at the National Bureau of Standards in Washington D.C.  He later moved to work at National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – Department of Transportation.  He and Martha moved to Bellefontaine, Ohio in 1978, where Hal held the position of Section Chief of the Occupant Restraints Division in NHTSA's laboratory located at the Transportation Research Center before retiring in 1982.

Outside of work, Hal was an avid reader – visiting the Bellefontaine Public Library almost daily.  He also enjoyed all types of music, playing many instruments including the organ, flute, guitar, recorder and harmonica.  Music brought him joy.  But he was most proud of his family and took great joy watching his grandchildren grow and follow their dreams.  Pictures and videos of great-granddaughters always brought a smile to his face.

A private family graveside service will take place at a later date.
