Obituary

E. Gary Shaffer, 66 of West Liberty passed away Friday, August 14, 2026 at his residence.

Gary was born February 18, 1960 in Madison, WV to Elmer Gray and G. June (Graham) Shaffer. On March 21, 1985 in North Lewisburg, OH he married the love of his life Tammy Jean Lynch, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Dawna (Jeff) Lickfelt and Anthony (Megan) Shaffer; grandchildren, Allison Lickfelt, June Lickfelt, Sarah Lickfelt, Emily Lickfelt and AJ Shaffer; father, Elmer Gray Shaffer; sisters, Bev (Gary) Bryant and Martee (Don) Dunlap; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, G. June (Graham) Shaffer

Gary honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the West Liberty Lions Club. He was seen as a “Jack of all Trades,” being well rounded in many skill sets. Gary was a dedicated worker and retired from MEI. Gary was a past West Liberty Cub/Boy Scout Master. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed working with his hands. Gary enjoyed visiting Steam Threshers, watching the Daytona 500 and fireworks. He loved cooking and was known to be a “Grill Master.” Above all he loved spending time with his family. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to get to know him.

A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
