July 25, 1950 – September 20, 2024
Donnie Dale Oppy, 74 of Sidney, Ohio passed on to be with the Lord Friday,
September 20, 2024 at Miami Valley Hospital surrounded by his wife, children and
siblings. Donnie was born July 25,1950 in Otway, Ohio to the late Donald And
Helen (Frondorf) Oppy.
Donnie was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School class of 1969. He joined the
United States Air Force shortly after graduation. Donnie worked in sales the majority
of his adult life but was most proud of the position he held later in life, driving the
Shelby County Veterans Shuttle helping area veterans get to and from their
appointments. Donnie was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and
friend.
He had a passion for cooking and having family and friends over to enjoy his
culinary talents. Donnie was always there with a good joke or funny story to lift your
spirits. He never passed up the chance to spend the evening playing euchre and
listening to music. Donnie also took great pleasure in traveling, especially to the
Caribbean.
On September 4,1999, he married Carolyn Oppy. With no formal religious
upbringing, Donnie decided to join the Catholic church by going through RCIA at
Precious Blood Parish.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Johnson) Oppy; daughters, Krissy (Tom)
Cost, Kimberly (Tim) Ramirez, and Nichole (Jim) Mace; grandchildren, Kyle Cost,
Tony (Maddie) Cost, Veronica (Josh) Vermilya, Cody and Austin Ramirez, James
Alexander, Tiffeni and Troi Smith, David and Kylie Mace; two great grandchildren,
Patricia and Izabella Vermilya. Donnie was the oldest of five children and is survived
by his sister and three brothers, Peg Engle (late Jim), Steve (Vicki) Oppy, Mark
(Cindy) Oppy and Jeff (Shelly) Oppy.
A Celebration of life and memorial services to be held at a later date.
