Dean Melvin Kite, 73 of Huntsville passed away on September 14, 2022 at his residence.
Dean was born October 26, 1948 in Urbana to the late Charles M. and Catherine M. (Dunlap) Kite. He is also preceded in death by his step-mother, Rae-Carol Kite, brother-in-law, Doug Plank. On September 12, 1969 in Mechanicsburg he married the love of his life Cynthia Lou Kite, who survives.
Dean graduated from Graham High School in 1966 being President of the FFA during his senior year. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1970 and was a member of the Alpha Zeta Fraternity. Dean taught a year at Greene Joint Vocational School in Ohio. He was a veteran of the US Air Force form 1971-1974 and was stationed in Misawa, Japan. He did post-graduate work at the University of Southern California during his military service. This opportunity to serve had a life lasting impression on Dean and his family. Dean was involved in the LEAD program at The Ohio State University in the Mid-80's. He was a Clark State Community College administrator from 1988-1994.
Dean was part owner & operator of the Outback Station, a country dance center from 1993-1997. Dean was a founding member of CPGG (Champaign Premium Grain Growers) in 2000. Dean had served on the St. Paris First Central National Bank Board for more than a decade. Dean farmed until he retired in 2008.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Cindi Lou Kite; daughters, Beth (Clay) Darby of Austin, TX, Megan (Calvin) Henry of Amsterdam, Netherlands; granddaughters, Kady Henry and Gigi Henry; sisters, Sharon Plank of Ashland, OH and Mary Jo (Rod) Hines of St. Paris, OH; sister-in-law, Linda (Bill) Ballinger of North Lewisburg, OH and other family members. Brian and Lisa Case for over 20 years were integral to the success of MapleGrove Farms (started by Charles Kite) which Brian & Family purchased in 2008. Dean and family loved to travel and had many memories of visits to Hawaii and Key West. After Retiring from the Kite Farm and moving to Indian Lake In 2008, Cindi and he made many new memories.
A private serve will be held at the convenience of the immediate family. In summer of 2023, a "Celebration of Life" will be held for Dean.
