Charles E. "Charlie" McDaniel passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 at his residence near Bellefontaine.

Charlie was born December 13, 1936 in Springfield, OH to the late Othol A. and Virginia (Sexton) McDaniel.

Charlie was a farmer's son and began farming as an adult. But his true calling was training horses, mainly draft horses. He grew up learning about horses from his grandfather Carey Sexton and it became his work and play. He bought his first pair of Belgians in the early 1970's.  This love of horses took him to southern Ohio working with Belgians, to South Carolina working with Clydesdales, back to Champaign County working with Belgians again and then to Wisconsin working with Friesians.  He loved training them, showing them and especially driving a team.

Charlie is survived by his daughter, Stephanie R. Hosler of Bellefontaine; grandsons Jason (Jessica) McDaniel and Scott Coy both of West Mansfield and five great grandchildren: Jacob, Jaina, Julie, Kayden and Austyn.

Charlie is preceded in death by his wife, Faye (Haye) McDaniel; his parents; his sisters, JoAnn (McDaniel) Pope of Springhill and Donna (McDaniel) Macy of New Carlisle; and his daughter Cheryl L. Mabry of West Mansfield.
