Betty ("Joan") Clayton, 77, of DeGraff, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by her family on July 18, 2023.

The daughter of Joe and Carolyn Neer, Joan was born on February 5, 1946, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, one of six children. On July 3, 1965, she married the love of her life, Gary W. Clayton. Together they had three children; Scott Clayton (Ann Marie), Barry Clayton (Heather), and Dawn Clayton.

Joan worked as a nurse at Mary Rutan Hospital and retired from there after spending many years in the surgical unit. She enjoyed spending time with her family and most importantly worshiping her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Joan is survived by Gary, her husband of 58 years, along with their three children, and six grandchildren, Cody (Alex) Clayton; Brooke (Corey) Vonderhuevel; Jake Richard; Hannah Clayton; Justin Clayton; Whitney Clayton; 1 great-grandchild, Haylee Vonderhuevel her sister Connie (Willard) Scheifele, brothers Max (Debbie) Neer, Terry Neer, Larry Neer and Roger (Robin) Neer along with numerous family, and friends who will cherish her memory and miss her dearly.

Private graveside funeral services for the family will be held on Friday July 21, 2023 at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio
