It is with profound sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Ashley Elizabeth Slaymaker, who went home to be with the Lord on August 25, 2026. Born on January 5, 1987, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, Ashley's life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. She passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long and courageous battle with illness, finding rest from the constant pounding in her head and the terrible joint pain she endured with such grace.

Ashley was the beloved daughter of Mary Smith and Cheyenne Begley, and she was blessed with a second father, Scott A. Smith, with whom she shared a deep and cherished bond. Preceded in death by her father, Cheyenne Begley, and her great-grandparents, Franklin (Bill) and Mary Wicker, Ashley leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Her life was enriched by the enduring love of her husband, James Slaymaker. They began their journey together in November 2005 and married on June 9, 2012. Together, they explored life with adventure, moving across states and always demonstrating an unwavering devotion to each other. Ashley also shared a profound and beautiful bond with her spiritual wife, Ali Hunt, a friendship that blossomed into an extraordinary love.

Ashley was a devoted sister to Autumn Reed and a loving aunt to her niece Nevaeh Reed and nephew Landon Reed. Her grandparents, Ron and Linda Wicker, along with her Aunt Lenora Male, Aunt and Uncle Barb and Kessler, and numerous cousins and great cousins, were all touched by her generous spirit and loving nature.

A graduate of Benjamin Logan High School in 2005, Ashley pursued her passion for technology, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from the College of Central Florida in 2019. She excelled as a QA Analyst and contributed greatly to her field until her illness necessitated her departure from the workforce. Ashley was an active member of her church community in Virginia, sharing her gifts and her heart with those around her. Her love for her six dogs was evident, and she found joy in crochet, wooden puzzle crafts, and a variety of other creative pursuits.

Her musical talents were extraordinary, as she possessed a singing voice that could touch the soul and played almost any instrument she encountered. Ashley was a beacon of love, a protector of her family, and a giver to her community.

A service to honor Ashley's life will be held on August 29, 2026, at Harper Community Church, 3679 Co Rd 25 N, Bellefontaine, Ohio, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Ashley's memory.

Ashley Elizabeth Slaymaker's beautiful soul will be deeply missed by all who knew her, yet her spirit and the love she shared will remain with us forever.
